Imran Khan appreciates Sialkot business community for transferring $100,000 to Priyantha Kumara’s family

What happened:

On January 18, it was reported that Rajco Industries sent nearly eighteen million rupees in monetary assistance to the deceased Sri Lankan national’s family, Priyantha Kumara. Local media reports suggest that the Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry raised 100,000 dollars to support the former general manager of Rajco Industries’s family.

Dawn News quotes, “Rajco Industries has transferred the money from the National Bank’s Sialkot District Court branch to a bank account held by Priyantha Kumara’s widow.” Subsequently, the SAPM on Political Communication, Shahbaz Gill, tweeted“Funds of 100000 US $ and first salary of 1667 US Dollar committed by Rajco Industries for next 10 years. And announced by Honourable Prime Minister of Pakistan has been transferred to the account of Widow of deceased Sri Lankan Manager Mr Priyantha Khumara in Sri Lanka.” 

Previously:

In December 2021, the Sialkot police had arrested more than 100 suspects after Priyantha Kumara was “tortured” to death outside the Rajco Industries located on Wazirabad Road, Sialkot. The prime minister and the federal cabinet had promised strict inquiry of the incident and vowed to put the suspects behind bars.
