Karachi man posing as army official arrested for blackmailing women

What happened:

On January 5, a report by ARY News revealed that the police arrested a man posing as a Pakistan Army official as he was accused of blackmailing women. Arsalan was arrested from Karachi’s Sohrab Goth area over the allegations of posing as an army official while he looted people and blackmailed the women of Karachi. At the same time, the publication quoted Karachi police as, “A woman was also part of the gang and they used fake IDs to blackmail the citizens of Karachi.” 


The group posing as army officials were also allegedly blackmailing the government officials. Subsequently, Arsalan was arrested by the police and fake IDs were recovered from the suspect.

What else:

Earlier in 2017, another real estate businessman from Karachi was arrested by the police for posing as Major of the Pakistan Army. The impostor was identified as Zulfiqar and defrauded the real estate clients from Karachi’s Defence and Clifton area. Zulfiqar was a resident of Karachi’s DHA and was arrested after an FIR under sections 316 of the PPC were registered against him.
