Man arrested for creating fake Twitter accounts of retd army officers supporting PTI
A resident of Sargodha, identified as Sadaqat Hussain, was arrested as it was alleged that he created fake Twitter profiles of retired army officials supporting a specific political party. TheNews reported, “Social accounts were made to create differences among the Army Officers on a political basis.” It is pertinent to mention that the fake video clips of Gen retd Haroon Aslam and Gen retd Mirza Aslam surfaced on social media.
TheNews quoted sources as, “An impression of division in the ranks of the army was being created through such fake social media accounts.” However, a publication has obtained the confession video of Sadaqat Hussain as “Hussain has been running his Twitter account for the past almost seven years. Hussain said that he was added to different groups. He maintained that the PTI Canada chapter’s information secretary Talat Kashif trained him about the social media.”
