1. Infant killed in Lahore by uncle for “making noise” at home

What happened:

On January 5, a two-year-old girl was killed by her grandfather in Lahore’s Bhatti Gate area. Subsequently, the accused, identified as Javed, was arrested by the Bhatti police and Dua’s body was shifted to the mortuary. At the same time, an FIR was registered against Javed stating, “Javed a resident of Kucha Rangrez, murdered two-rea-old Dua for making noise while playing with her friends.” 

Details:

Bhatti police have also launched an inquiry into the matter. According to a report, Dua was killed as a result of a family conflict between the maternal and paternal sides.

2. FIA arrested two men for blackmailing couples at the University of Karachi

What happened:

 Karachi’s cybercrime cell of FIA arrested two men named Fazal Dad and Adnan Ali after they were accused of shooting videos of couples without their consent at the Karachi University. Samaa quotes the head of FIA Sindh, Imran Riaz as “We received a complaint from a woman, a student, that she was being forced to meet these men in private and pay ransom.”

Details:

 Fazal Dad and Adnan Ali allegedly blackmailed the couples to post their videos on YouTube. Imran Riaz disclosed to Samaa that Immoral and indecent content was seen on the phones of both the accused. However, FIA has registered an FIR against Fazal and Adnan. 

Also:

On the other hand, it was disclosed in a report that Fazal was the brother of a security guard at the Karachi University. While Adnan was the driver of a professor at the Department of Geography in KU.

3. The Hakla-Dera Ismail Khan motorway inaugurated by PM Imran Khan

What happened:

On January 5, PM Imran Khan inaugurated the Hakla-D. I Khan motorway in a ceremony in Islamabad. The Hakla-D.I Khan Motorway is 203 kilometres long and a part of the western route of the CPEC. While addressing the ceremony, Imran Khan said, “This motorway will benefit the less developed areas of the country and is a tremendous performance by Murad Saeed’s team.”

Details:

The motorway will connect Gujrat to Dera Ismail Khan and help the less developed city connect with the other. Imran Khan said, “This motorway would go a long way towards raising standards of living of these areas and reduce the travel time between Islamabad and D.I Khan from seven to three hours.”

4. CM Sindh hints at launching a new team in PSL

What happened:

In a meeting with Shahnawaz Dahani, the right-arm fast bowler from Larkana, Murad Ali Shah said that the Sindh government wanted to launch its team in the Pakistan Super League. During the meeting with Multan Sultans’ star bowler, CM Sindh said, “We will find a sponsor and bring a team for PSL soon.”

Murad Ali Shah also applauded the bowling of Dahani and motivated the cricketer to give match-winning performances in the future as he said, “We will have a cricket match. I will bat on the bowling of fast bowler Shahnawaz Dahani.” At the same time, CM asked Dahani to pay attention to his training and bring cricketers from Sindh. 

5. Usman Buzdar orders authority to start the construction of environment-friendly electric tramway project

What happened:

 On January 5, Chief Minister Punjab announced the start of an environment-friendly electric tramway project in Lahore. The construction of the tramway project has been made on a priority basis by the CM as he said it would help commuters to the motorway and reduce the traffic burden at Canal Road and Multan Road. 

Details:

Usman Buzdar also highlighted that a record number of projects had been done in the provincial capital during PTI’s government. He also criticized the performance of previous governments and said, “The former rulers abused resources for personal projection.”
