What happened: Prime Minister Imran Khan approved Rs5 billion in humanitarian help for Afghanistan on Monday. This includes permitting Indian food supplies to be transported through Pakistan as well.

Details: The decision was made during the first meeting of the newly formed Afghanistan Inter-Ministerial Coordination Cell’s apex body. PM Khan presided over the meeting, which included Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi and Finance Adviser Shaukat Tarin. The aid: The aid would include food, including 50,000 tonnes of wheat, emergency medical supplies, and winter shelters. An Afghan delegation of health officials will visit Islamabad to iron out the details of Pakistan’s support for Afghanistan’s health sector. What else: The prime minister’s approval of the assistance was first revealed on October 1. It was during FM Qureshi’s journey to Kabul to negotiate with Taliban. Since September, humanitarian supplies have been transferred virtually daily from Pakistan to Afghanistan.
