Police in search for the woman who tried to set fire at a Mosque in New Mexico
The law enforcement officials of Albuquerque are in search of the woman who tried to set fire at the Islamic Center of New Mexico on the 27th of November. The video on social media shows a woman trying to set a fire outside the entry door of the Islamic center.
On the other hand, the Islamic Center of New Mexico’s officials claimed that this woman had also threatened their imam of “burning this place down.” The Albuquerque police officials have started their investigation and search for the woman. One of the spokesmen for the FBI said, “We are asking people if they have any information on this to call us or local law enforcement.” However, the local police have said that it is too early to predict whether it was a hate crime or the woman had other motives.
The Islamic leaders of the state have called on federal and local police officers to investigate the incident. The Council on American-Islamic Relation’s spokesperson, Ibrahim Hooper, stated, “Silence and inaction in the face of growing hate nationwide only encourages bigots targeting all minorities.”
