This country plans to become the first in the world to prescribe vapes ‘officially’

Details: As announced by the UK’s Medicines and Healthcare Regulatory Authority, England is on track to become the first country in the world that prescribes e-cigarettes. The UK government is planning to prescribe vapes to cut down cigarettes, as they claim that vapes are less harmful. The MHRA has said that they are inviting e-cigarette manufacturers to submit their products to be approved after evaluation.

Also: Their announcement included, “E-cigarettes could be prescribed on the NHS (National Health Service) in England to help people stop smoking tobacco products. Also, if the NHS approves it, England would become the first to prescribe e-cigarettes as a medical product. Reports suggest that e-cigarettes are not entirely risk-free, but they carry a small fraction of the risk of cigarettes.

What else: It is to be noted that e-cigarettes/vapes are the most popular aid smokers use to quit smoking, but they have not been available on the prescription list. According to reports, 3.6 million people in the UK use e-cigarettes, most of them are former smokers. At the same time, UK’s health secretary Sajid Javed has also said that vapes could be an essential tool to reduce smoking rates.
