35 year old Omicron patient escapes quarantine facility in Karachi
An individual from Karachi who had tested positive upon arrival from Britain had first been tested positive for Covid and was later suspected of having contracted the omicron variant. Subsequently, he was transferred to a quarantine facility at a private hotel on Shahrah-e-Faisal before escaping.
It is pertinent to mention here that nearly 40 people have escaped Karachi’s quarantine facility due to a lack of security. This is also the second case of Omicron infection in the city. Reports suggest that the local government and police are responsible for providing security at the quarantine facility.
UK is not in Pakistan’s category C for the Covid testing, and the 35 year old was tested randomly. He was shifted to the quarantine facility on the 14th of December and escaped the next day, while the home department has his passport and are in search of the individual. However, the home department had also visited the house address mentioned on the passport but the suspected Covid patient was not found.
