French Government recognises Asma Ashraf’s social welfare work and awards her with the prestigious French award
A French woman of Pakistani origin, Asma Ashraf, received the National Order of Merit for her hard work in the education sector and for her social welfare services for the French society. National Order of Merit is also the second national order after the Legion of Honour and is given to individuals who have distinguished merits in the exercise of a civil or military function or private activity.
Asma Ashraf, in an interview, revealed that the French Government recognised her efforts as the founder of Femme Relais Mediatrice Interculturelle de Champigny, a platform that provides counselling to women. It is pertinent to mention that Asma Ashraf is the only Pakistani origin woman to receive the award. Asma Ashraf is also quoted by a publication saying, “I hope to encourage others to carry forward this legacy. I have a lot of projects in mind and I am looking forward to being able to deliver them.”
