“New Year new beginings”: CDA organizes a 10km marathon to celebrate 2022

What happened:

 Capital Development Authority, Islamabad Running Club and Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad are organizing a 10km run on January 1 to welcome the New Year. The marathon is being held to welcome 2022 with great passion and promote healthy living among the citizens of Islamabad. The marathon was held early morning on Saturday as various dignitaries were present at D-chowk.

Details:

The marathon’s route was from D-chowk to the 9th Avenue and back to D-chowk as it included foreigners along with professional runners and locals. At the same time, winning prizes of rupees 15,000 for the first position and 7500 for the 3rd position were allotted.

The focal person for CDA, Dr M Abdullah, is quoted by a publication, “We aim to promote a positive image of Pakistan and hope that the world sees our country as a safe and peaceful place.” The dignitaries included UAE’s ambassador to Pakistan, DC Chakwal, and Hamza Shafqaat.
